For those of you who have enjoyed the Percy Jackson books, here is a link to the first chapter of Mr. Riordan's new series, the Kane Chronicles.
From what I've read, it is about a brother and sister who find out they are descendants of Egyptian magicians. Sound familiar? But, the first chapter was engaging enough to pique my interest.

Holy Hannah! I think I enjoyed that chapter way too much. I shall have to wait eagerly for this one.
