willpower, or a study of my lack thereof

Tuesday I went shopping at everybody's favorite Super Mega Mart, trying hard at a new attempt at uber-frugalness.

As I make the transition to the food section, I pass through the most dangerous aisle in the entire store: The Book Aisle.

Rewind to sometime last year...I just finished listening to the Hunger Games and loved the book. Though the ending left some plots unfinished, I was actually content with how things ended. I didn't need a sequel. Until I found out there was to be one: Catching Fire.

Remember my uber-frugality? Well, I had decided I was not going to get a hard copy - I'd just wait to get the audiobook with my normal monthly subscription.

All that resolve crumbled when I saw the newly released book, sitting there, temptingly, in the aforementioned Book Aisle.

Fine.

So I gave in! What's the big deal? It's a book, and books make you smarter, no?

BUT, I was now going to wait till the weekend to read the darn thing.

I'm sure you can guess how long that lasted. One day. Even I knew as I sat down at 10:30pm to read 'just one chapter.'

I almost made it! But after Chapter 1, I said, 'just one more....'

I vaguely remember seeing the number three pass by.

There was another chance when I moved from the couch to my room at Part II.

There was not turning back by Part III.

Four and a half hours later, it was over. I even reread the last chapter again, like trying to sop up any leftover goodness from a fabulous meal.

Well, I guess I'll have a chance to test my willpower again next year when the final installment in the trilogy is released.

sigh.

I LOVED that book!!!! Well, the first one, but I was a little skeptical about the 2nd. But now I have to read it! You are crumbling my resolve too! (haha). We should have a sisterhood of the traveling book, instead of pants.

I AM SO EXCITED TO READ THAT BOOK! I had no idea it was out already! I just recently finished the first--meaning I sat around for a whole day in my pajamas until it was over. You're not alone...
