done and done

YAY!

My. paper. is. DONE. Sure, it was 33 minutes late. But, it's done. I learned a lot, and it's done.

Tomorrow I have work - database entry all day or hearing tests that were administered during the year. Fun!

Friday is graduation, where all members of the band convene in one massive band. Seven oboes. In unison. Fun!

Saturday, Rick Riordan is coming to a bookstore in Raleigh to talk about his new book, The Last Olympian! This was to be my official act of celebration for the semester's end. Ya, guess who realized they had double-booked themselves and has to...sorry...gets to play for the Saturday session of Stake Conference? Me!

Please forgive a moment of self pity. I mean seriously, how often do you get to hear the author's talk about their books? And I was going to wait in line, and he would sign it, and I was going to tell him how his books for little people helped me survive big people school....

Okay, done.

I need to email the bookstore so that even though I won't be there, I'd still like my book signed. (It won't be the same, but who's complaining. :) ) I'll pick it up, and all will be well.

I did get a pleasant surprise, though. My new audible credit has arrived!

So, in short, I need your help. I need something I can do to celebrate because of certain circumstances. And frankly icecream just will not cut it, even if it is the most amazing icecream in the world.

I thought about going to see Star Trek on Saturday? Perhaps a Pride & Prejudice showing on Monday? Maybe going to bed before 1 am?

Speaking of bed...

Before I head to bed, I would like to share some pictures I found interesting these last few days.

Contrary to popular belief, I am not a pessimist, yet I think that these mugs are just brilliant. And yes, I posted a link to them the other day, but I still think they are brilliant!

This is for my friend who's graduating who told me I was pronouncing Nevada wrong.

Curiously, my dictionary says: nəˈvadə; -ˈvädə. (I especially like the qualification for the second pronunciation: chiefly by outsiders.) They are different letters, but is the pronunciation the same as in the picture? I think so.

Lastly,

The story is sad, maybe particularly so because I played on the campus less than a month ago.
All the more reason I found the advertisement placement a little ironic.

yay for being done!!!

and I'm sure you will be blessed for your dedication to stake conference :)

I was trying to think what you might do to celebrate... take a scenic drive? that's a cheap way :) but I think the most fun would be to go to the movies. I heard that Star Trek was good.

And yes, we are interminably, indefinitely, foreverly in Utah it seems like. Although we'll be outta town May 22-27 for my cousin Caitlin's wedding. I heard you might be in town the weekend of Michele's wedding? And something about flowers? (I totally recommended your flower skills :) )

Yay for being done for the year!
(what are you doing this summer?)

So, on the last picture, I at first thought that the advertisement WAS a picture that went with the story. And I thought it was rather tacky to have a picture of a shot man, (and I couldn't figure out if the black part was where they photoshopped out to disguise the blood or what). Then I realized that it was the ad. And I felt dumb.

I can perfectly sympathize with your not being able to go to the book signing. It's sort of like how I missed everything Harry Potter 7 because I was still on my mission :( But those Riordian books are great! Also, CONGRATS on finishing your paper!!! Go buy a plant! :) And we can do something celebratory when you come to Provo.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Adelita - I like the drive idea, but I think I'm too lazy right now. Maybe after I get back from Utah, some of us will have to go to the Blue Ridge Parkway. ooo, that sounds fun.
And the thought that I would be blessed for going did cross my mind, too.
And thanks for the referral! I hope to make it to anything in the evening - there's another wedding I get to go to that day, too. Crazy! I will be in town that weekend, and the two weekends before that!

And Thora, I edited the picture, so it didn't show the actual professor's mugshot, so don't feel dumb. Maybe I just did too good of a job. hah.

Megano! You know Percy Jackson?? YAY! I swore I was the only 'grown-up' who did. I really like the plant idea, though I may wait till after, so it doesn't die while I'm gone. But for sure I could go browsing, and if I see the perfect plant....
And of course, partay in Provo!
